Role: Millis Equipment is seeking a Civil Estimator to join our
Houston office. This candidate will be a self-directed, competitive
professional who thrives working autonomously. The role is ideal
for someone who enjoys taking full ownership of the estimating
process and is motivated to consistently deliver accurate, winning
bids. Responsibilities Manage the full estimating process from
concept through bid submission on a wide variety of civil projects.
Prepare detailed and accurate take-offs for earthwork, utilities,
concrete, and paving scopes. Build and maintain relationships with
subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams. Analyze drawings,
specifications, and bid documents to ensure compliance and
accuracy. Review subcontractor and vendor bids for scope coverage,
accuracy, and competitiveness. Lead value engineering discussions
and pricing strategies to maximize client value and profitability.
Navigate public and private bid requirements with precision.
Qualifications: 5 years of estimating experience in civil
construction, site development, or heavy civil projects. Strong
background in earthwork, utilities, and paving. Public bidding
experience is a huge plus Ability to work independently with little
oversight; self-motivated and highly competitive. Proficiency with
takeoff and estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, Planswift, Agtek).
Strong organizational and communication skills. Proven track record
of delivering accurate estimates in hard bid and negotiated
