Job Purpose

Lufkin Industries is a leading supplier of rod pumping artificial lift systems to the global upstream oil and gas industry. The company's Surface segment provides beam pumping units, automation equipment, and services to customers requiring rod pumping equipment and services. The company's Downhole segment provides downhole rod lift and progressive cavity pumps, sucker rods, services, and engineering and project management support to customers.

The Market Intelligence Manager will be responsible for supporting the Commercial Operations organization as a thought leader around market data, analysis, and derive strategic insights to drive industry leading performance. By utilizing data of current trends in the industry, and utilizing a strong acumen for critical thinking, the Market Intelligence Manager will be a central figure supporting strategic decisions within the sales and marketing organization and product line management groups within the business. A passion for winning and leading by example will help the individual drive change as a member of cross functional teams and build strong relationships within the organization.

Responsibilities
Utilizes multiple streams of market intelligence to develop new sales leads and concentrate the sales staff in the areas of greatest potential growth
Identifies customers for cross selling and upselling capabilities to outperform the competition
Performs original quantitative and qualitative analysis of market data and competitors to drive differentiated growth
Monitors various data streams for industry trends, leads, and developing key insights from rig activity, production data, artificial lift conversion activity, customer spending, and competitive information
Provides domain-specific expertise and overall data systems leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities
Uses data driven insights during red-teaming activities on strategic tendering opportunities with extensive knowledge of the next best alternative (NBA) offer
Supports the development of the annual segment business plans and sales forecasts by utilizing data to drive expected levels of activity and identify high potential segments of growth
Performs win/loss analysis of sales and commercial activity to derive insights around tactical pursuit plans and work with sales leaders to drive improved win-rates
Develops and supports voice of customer (VOC) activities to track the net promoter score (NPS) for product lines with Lufkin's key customers
Attend approved trade shows and events in support of the Marketing department and gather key insights around competitive intelligence to drive refined marketing and product line strategies
Builds a complete picture of competitor's strategies, technologies, and customers
Calculate the market share for each product line and identify areas of share growth, in support of annual strategic growth initiatives
Supports annual strategic growth initiatives as a key contributor and initiative leader
Develop and maintain customer dossiers around potential opportunities, growth targets, and the competitive landscape to support account planning activities
Develop and publish regular Market Intelligence reports for senior leadership
Manages data service provider(s) and consultant(s) and leads periodic related sourcing exercises in conjunction with supply chain
Prioritize conflicting needs and making decisions for successful completion of projects/issues often with deadline pressures.
Supports the annual price book review process to drive improved gross margin in alignment with strategic initiatives
Manages the development of value based premium pricing tools in effort to support greater system sales capture
Tracks and manage performance against key KPIs, coordinating multiple stake holders

Required Education, Qualifications, And Experience
Bachelor's Degree in business or equivalent field
Strong management skills
The ability to extract actionable insight from complex data structures and sources
Excellent verbal and business communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work within a fast paced, demanding, and dynamic environment
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work within multiple levels of an organization
Ability to work in a cross-functional, matrixed organization team
Ability to work under varying levels of supervision depending on the customer's and businesses' needs
Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities and demonstrated experience in such area
Upstream oil and gas experience

Desirable Education, Qualification, And Experience

This position is considered a hybrid role and can be filled as an in-office role, or remotely upon approval of hiring manager and agreed upon within the offer letter.
Experience with business intelligence tool platforms such as Tableau and/or PowerBI
Experience with commercial processes and pricing strategies that drive improved profitability
Preferred exposure to data analytics and CRM software
MBA and or advanced technical degrees or certification in data science
Corporate strategy, marketing, and business development experience
Experience in M&A support and due diligence activities
Exposure and demonstrated experience using strategic deployment plans
