JOB BRIEF

Plant Manager is responsible for the complete operation of designated production lines. They work with corporate management, supervisors, associates, and ensuring meet the production expectations. Plant Manager Act as role models of professionalism, ethical behavior, and effective decision-making at all times. The Plant Manager is responsible for the proper operation of all production lines with in the commissary. They focus on their employees and solve complex problems. This person coordinates the work of employees to achieve satisfactory operating results, which comply with company procedures and policies.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Plant Manager is accountable for:

Commissary Operations

  • Supervising production plans, which are established by management
  • Controlling commissary operating budget.
  • Enforcing established programs, which comply with city codes, health regulations, weights and measure regulations and ensuring standards in all items produced in the commissary are being met.
  • Controlling labor costs for the entire commissary.
  • Responsible for commissary supervision, including make sure all items produced at the commissary are made following authorized recipes and procedures
  • Works closely with Director of Operations and Bakery Buyer in implementing corporate strategies; handling commissary facilities management, ensuring quality control, budget, and overall profit and loss; coaching and assisting specialists and offering advice on all aspects of commissary operations
  • Employee Development
  • Building and maintaining a positive working relationship with employees and peers
  • Executing and communicating company procedures and policies in a manner consistent with Bodega Latina Corporation's mission
  • Motivating and inspiring team in reaching high performance and in providing friendly customer service
  • Managing the development and performance of the commissary employees

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma, Associates Degree or better preferred
  • Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

Experience:

  • 5-7 years in food manufacturing industry, preferable within the bakery or related industry with direct plant manager operations experience.

Preferred Field of Expertise

  • Supervisory and operational experience in similar industry

  • Knowledge of applicable laws/policies/principles/etc.

o 11 to 25 lbs. - rarely, ingredients, moving bowls and supplies to and from carts.

o 26 to 40 lbs. - rarely, obtaining boxes of cooking ingredients while prepping and baking.

o 41 to 55 lbs. - rarely, obtaining boxes and bags of baking ingredients. Moving mixer bowl from stand.

o Over 55 lbs. - very rarely

  • BALANCING: rarely, while utilizing a step stool.
  • PULLING: Rarely, pulling boxes, bags or tubs of baking ingredients, weighing up to 80 lbs., to prepare for baking. Pulling roller carts filled with full trays was measured at less than 4 lbs. of pressure. Pulling supplies and bags of flour, and pulling large quantities of dough. ( employees are encouraged to push rather than pull)
  • PUSHING: rarely, pushing boxes, bags or tubs of baking ingredients and, weighing up to 80 lbs., to prepare for baking. Pushing roller carts filled with full trays was measured at less than 3 lbs. of pressure. Pushing roller carts of 50 pound bags of flour. Pushing product while breaking down pallets in the store warehouse area. (employees are encouraged to push rather than pull)
  • CROUCHING: rarely
  • STOOPING: rarely
  • REACHING:
  • Above shoulder height - rarely, while supervising baking machinery, while loading or unloading metal carts, while obtaining ingredients at levels overhead in storage.
  • At shoulder height - rarely, while supervising baking machinery, while loading or unloading metal carts, while obtaining ingredients at levels overhead in storage.
  • Below shoulder height - rarely, while supervising baking machinery, while loading or unloading metal carts, while obtaining ingredients at levels overhead in storage.
